Medical Director – Small Animal General Practice | Fear Free Medicine

JOB-5177

The Job Opportunity:
A well-established small animal practice is seeking an experienced Medical Director to join its collaborative team and help guide the continued growth of the hospital.

This is an opportunity for a veterinarian who loves practicing medicine but is also energized by mentoring colleagues, developing teams, and helping create a hospital where people enjoy coming to work. The Medical Director will remain actively involved in patient care while having a meaningful voice in medical standards, doctor development, hospital processes, and the overall direction of the practice.

The hospital embraces evidence-based medicine, Fear Free methods, clinical autonomy, and collaborative decision-making. Doctors are encouraged to practice thoughtful, individualized medicine while having colleagues and experienced veterinary support professionals available when collaboration is helpful.

The Medical Director will lead a multi-DVM team and work closely with veterinary technicians, practice management, and operational leadership. Rather than leading from the sidelines, this veterinarian will be an approachable clinical resource and mentor who helps doctors build confidence, develop their skills, and pursue their individual professional interests.

For an experienced veterinarian ready to take the next step in leadership—or an established veterinary leader looking for a supportive environment—this position offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact on patient care, doctor development, team culture, and the future of the hospital.

Practice Information:
This established, full-service small animal hospital provides comprehensive veterinary care in a welcoming, team-oriented general practice environment.

The hospital incorporates Fear Free and low-stress methods into patient care, helping create a more comfortable veterinary experience for pets while supporting positive interactions with their families.

A multi-DVM medical team is supported by veterinary technicians, practice management, and experienced operational leadership. Doctors are encouraged to collaborate, discuss cases, share knowledge, and use their individual strengths while maintaining appropriate clinical autonomy.

The hospital’s approach to medicine and team development emphasizes:

The Medical Director will partner closely with practice management and operational leadership, bringing together medical and operational perspectives to support excellent patient care, an engaged team, a positive client experience, and the continued development of the hospital.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive medical care to small animal patients
  • Perform thorough physical examinations and preventive health evaluations
