Associate Veterinarian – New Small Animal General Practice | Four-Day Workweek

JOB-5513

The Job Opportunity:
A new small animal general practice is seeking a Full-Time Associate Veterinarian to join its founding medical team and help shape the hospital as it grows.

This is a unique opportunity for a veterinarian who would enjoy being part of a practice from its early stages while having a meaningful voice in hospital culture, medical standards, clinical workflows, and the client experience. The incoming veterinarian will work closely with medical leadership to create a collaborative environment centered around evidence-based medicine, thoughtful patient care, professional development, and strong client relationships.

The hospital will provide comprehensive medical, surgical, dental, diagnostic, and preventive care for dogs and cats within a newly designed facility equipped with modern veterinary technology.

The position is structured around a four-day workweek with flexible scheduling and no on-call responsibilities. The hospital does not plan to routinely hospitalize patients overnight, helping doctors maintain predictable end-of-day schedules. Protected lunch periods and dedicated time for client callbacks are also incorporated into the scheduling philosophy.

The practice plans to maintain approximately a 2:1 technician-to-doctor ratio, along with veterinary assistants and client service professionals, allowing doctors to focus on clinical decision-making, patient care, procedures, and meaningful client communication.

Experienced veterinarians seeking clinical autonomy are encouraged to apply, along with newer doctors looking for structured mentorship and professional development.

Practice Information:
This newly developed small animal general practice is being designed around high-quality, evidence-based medicine, Fear Free principles, collaborative care, and sustainable veterinary careers.

The hospital will provide a diverse general practice caseload that includes:

  • Wellness and preventive medicine
  • Internal medicine
  • Comprehensive dentistry
  • Soft tissue surgery
  • Diagnostic imaging
  • In-house diagnostics
  • Same-day urgent cases when scheduling and clinical capabilities allow
  • Fear Free patient handling
  • Client education and long-term health management

  • Digital radiography
  • Digital dental radiography
  • Ultrasound
  • In-house laboratory diagnostics
  • Modern anesthetic monitoring
  • AI-assisted clinical documentation
  • Fully digital medical records and clinical workflows
  • Modern surgical and dental resources

The practice will emphasize a Fear Free approach to veterinary medicine, incorporating thoughtful handling techniques intended to reduce fear, anxiety, and stress whenever appropriate.

When patients require advanced diagnostics, specialty procedures, overnight hospitalization, or care beyond the scope of general practice, doctors will have access to specialty and referral resources.

As the hospital develops from a new practice into a larger multi-doctor team, veterinarians will have opportunities to participate in shaping workflows, medical protocols, team culture, and future clinical services.
