Role Responsibilities:

• Perform advanced surgical evaluations, procedures, and postoperative management for complex cases
• Conduct comprehensive patient examinations, diagnostics, and surgical consultations
• Develop individualized treatment plans using evidence-based surgical techniques
• Collaborate with specialists, emergency clinicians, referring veterinarians, and hospital teams to provide integrated patient care
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding diagnosis, surgical options, treatment plans, and prognosis
• Maintain accurate and complete medical records
• Prescribe medications while following pharmacy and controlled substance protocols
• Participate in specialty rounds, case discussions, and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Support mentorship and professional development of veterinary team members when appropriate
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and advancement of surgical services
• Promote a culture focused on teamwork, compassion, innovation, and exceptional patient care

Job Applicant Requirements:

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) degree from an accredited veterinary college
• Completion of a rotating small animal internship or equivalent advanced clinical training
• Completion of an approved veterinary surgery residency program
• Board certification or residency training in Veterinary Surgery
• Active veterinary license or ability to obtain licensure in the applicable state
• DEA registration or ability to obtain and maintain registration, if required
• Strong surgical, diagnostic, and clinical decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary specialty environment
• Commitment to evidence-based medicine and exceptional patient care
