Associate Veterinarian – Small Animal Practice

JOB-4788

The Job Opportunity:
A well-established small animal veterinary practice is seeking a compassionate and collaborative Associate Veterinarian to join its supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian who values evidence-based medicine, strong client relationships, clinical autonomy, and a workplace where professional growth is actively encouraged.

The practice is committed to creating an environment where veterinarians can focus on providing thoughtful, individualized patient care while benefiting from the resources, mentorship, and collaboration of a broader veterinary network. Doctors are encouraged to practice medicine with professional independence while having access to additional clinical resources when challenging or complex cases arise.

The position may be particularly appealing to a veterinarian looking for a long-term professional home where clinical excellence, teamwork, continuing education, and a sustainable approach to veterinary medicine are valued.

Practice Information:
Veterinarians are supported by an experienced paraprofessional team and modern clinical workflows designed to improve efficiency and allow doctors to devote more of their time to medicine and client communication. An especially valuable feature of the practice is access to internal specialty consultation and clinical resources. Veterinarians can collaborate on more complicated cases and draw upon the knowledge of a broader professional network while maintaining responsibility and autonomy over their patients.

The practice also places a strong emphasis on professional development. Veterinarians have access to continuing education, structured mentorship, leadership development opportunities, and resources for pursuing individual areas of clinical interest.

Role Responsibilities May Include:

  • Providing comprehensive medical care for small animal patients
  • Performing examinations, diagnostic evaluations, preventive care, and treatment
  • Developing individualized diagnostic and treatment plans based on current veterinary standards and clinical evidence
  • Building trusted, long-term relationships with clients and their pets
  • Clearly communicating diagnosis, treatment recommendations, prognoses, and preventive healthcare plans
  • Educating pet owners so they can make informed decisions regarding their pets’ health
  • Collaborating with veterinary colleagues and the broader clinical support team
  • Utilizing specialty consultation and professional resources when beneficial for complex cases
  • Maintaining accurate and timely medical records
  • Contributing to a respectful, supportive, and team-oriented hospital culture
  • Participating in continuing education and professional development opportunities
  • Supporting high standards of patient safety, compassionate care, and medical quality

Job Applicant Requirements:

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution
  • Eligibility for veterinary licensure in the state of practice
  • A commitment to evidence-based medicine and high standards of patient care
  • Strong interpersonal and client communication skills
  • A collaborative and respectful approach to working with veterinary and support teammates
  • An interest in continued learning and professional development
  • A positive, compassionate, and client-focused approach to veterinary medicine

Compensation & Benefits May Include:

  • Competitive compensation with additional production-based earning opportunities
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement plan with employer contributions
  • Paid time off
  • Continuing education allowance and dedicated continuing education time
  • Structured mentorship and professional development opportunities
  • Leadership development and career advancement pathways
  • Access to a broad network of veterinary professionals and clinical resources
  • Professional liability coverage
  • Short- and long-term disability coverage
  • Family and parental leave benefits
  • Telehealth and additional well being resources
