Medical Director – Multi-DVM Practice Seeing Diverse Mix of Wellness & UC/ER Cases (Daytime Only!)

JOB-6363

The Job Opportunity:
An established and highly respected veterinary hospital is seeking an experienced Hybrid GP/ER/UC Medical Director to lead a collaborative multi-doctor team while continuing to provide hands-on patient care. This opportunity is ideal for a veterinarian who wants to build on a strong foundation, bring their own leadership style and medical interests to an established practice, and have a meaningful influence on the hospital’s continued development.

The successful candidate will remain actively involved in the medicine they enjoy while serving as the clinical leader of the hospital. Working closely with an experienced Hospital Manager, skilled support team, and dedicated medical and operational leadership, the Medical Director will guide medical quality, mentor a team of four veterinarians, support clinical standards, and help shape the practice’s next chapter.

This role offers significant leadership impact without requiring the Medical Director to step away from clinical practice. The position provides opportunities to develop the veterinary team, strengthen hospital services, support recruiting, and advance evidence-based medicine while maintaining a sustainable schedule and strong work-life balance.

Practice Information:

This established veterinary hospital operates from a custom-built, approximately 11,000-square-foot facility with a loyal client base and a strong reputation in its community. The hospital offers a broad clinical caseload that includes preventive care, internal medicine, dentistry, urgent care, soft-tissue surgery, emergency stabilization, and select advanced procedures.

The hospital is equipped with digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound, in-house laboratory diagnostics, advanced anesthetic monitoring, laser therapy, and a fully equipped surgical suite. The practice also uses AI-assisted medical documentation and a paper-light records system to reduce administrative burden and help veterinarians remain focused on patient care.

The team maintains a healthy doctor-to-technician ratio and a collaborative support structure in which veterinarians and support staff work closely together. The hospital is closed on Saturdays and Sundays and does not require on-call or after-hours responsibilities, creating a predictable schedule that supports long-term professional sustainability.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and community partners
  • Participate in continuing education and leadership development
  • Represent the hospital’s commitment to medical excellence, collaboration, and compassionate care
