A progressive 24/7 specialty and emergency referral hospital is seeking a Board-Certified or Residency-Trained Veterinary Oncologist to join its growing multidisciplinary team. This opportunity is designed for a specialist who values collaborative medicine and enjoys working alongside experienced clinicians across emergency and critical care, internal medicine, surgery, and oncology. The hospital provides a sophisticated clinical environment with advanced diagnostic and treatment resources, allowing the oncology team to manage complex cases while working closely with other specialties.
Practice Information:
The hospital is a VECCS Level 2 certified specialty and emergency facility providing around-the-clock care.
The multidisciplinary team includes services in:
- Emergency and Critical Care
- Internal Medicine
- Medical Oncology
- Surgery
- Veterinary technicians with advanced specialty credentials
The facility includes seven examination rooms and extensive advanced diagnostic and critical-care capabilities, including:
- Two dedicated ultrasound suites
- On-site MRI
- 128-slice CT
- Fluoroscopy
- Endoscopy
- Wound vacuum therapy
- Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)
- Electromyography (EMG)
- ICU ventilator
- Video otoscopy
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced oncology consultation and patient care
- Develop individualized diagnostic and treatment plans based on current evidence and clinical findings
- Manage a diverse caseload of oncology patients
- Collaborate closely with internal medicine, surgery, emergency and critical care, and other specialty services
- Utilize advanced imaging and diagnostic resources when appropriate
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis
- Work with the veterinary team to provide coordinated, patient-centered care
- Participate in case discussions and multidisciplinary consultations
- Support the education and professional development of veterinary colleagues and trainees
- Contribute to a culture of clinical learning and knowledge sharing
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure continuity of care
- Stay current with advances in veterinary oncology through continuing education and professional development
- Participate in clinical studies or research opportunities when appropriate
Job Applicant Requirements:
- Holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution or equivalent
- Is board-certified in veterinary oncology or residency-trained in medical oncology
- Is licensed and in good standing to practice veterinary medicine, or is eligible for licensure
- Has a strong commitment to evidence-based veterinary medicine
- Enjoys managing complex cases and collaborating across specialties
- Communicates thoughtfully and compassionately with clients and colleagues
- Values teamwork, mentorship, and knowledge sharing
- Is interested in continuing professional and clinical development
- Approaches patient care with empathy, professionalism, and attention to detail
